I don’t know about you, but morning sex always seems to be the ideal way to get the day started. Sure, there’s something a little more raunchy about sex in the dark, but having sex in-between the second and third time you hit the snooze button on your alarm has some tremendous perks.
Since we care about your well-being and believe getting down and dirty prior to your morning shower needs to happen more, here are a few simple reasons we believe that—with some support from science to back us up.
It Helps Your Immune System
Believe it or not, there’s actually research that backs this up, as biochemist Dr. Musa Yakubu of the University of Ilorin said that having sex three to four times a week has shown to boost immune system by “stimulating the body’s first line of defense and production of immunoglobulin A (IgA), against cold and fever,” via Vanguard.
You’ll Be Happier, Longer
In the same research from Dr. Yakubu, he admitted that sex in the morning releases “oxytocin”—a “feel-good chemical” that both boosts your closeness for your partner, and helps make your brain feel happier for a longer period of time. I’m no genius, but that sounds like a very good thing.
It’s The Perfect Way To Start Your Day
A stressful day full of meetings to come? Maybe a morning romp session should be your way to get off on the right foot and put a smile on your face. In addition to the aforementioned oxytocin that’s released during sex, a separate study from the University of Cincinnati showed that morning sex is a natural stress-reliever—leaving enough of a positive effect to last seven days!
It Can Replace Your Morning Workout
Sure, morning sex will never completely make you forget the gym, but there are some benefits to sweating between the sheets. Per a 2014 study, an hour of sex is the equivalent of a 30-minute run, so why are you still fighting for treadmills at a crowded gym, guys?
You Can Keep It Going In The Shower
Seeing as how you’re about to go to work after getting down and dirty, both you and your partner will absolutely want to clean yourselves off from all the sweat and other substances from sex. What better way to wash yourself than to sneak in one more sexy time moment in the shower together? Things are already hot and the blood is flowing fast, so don’t hold yourselves back!
It May Actually Help You Last Longer, Guys
According to sexologist Megan Stubbs, Ed.D., testosterone levels for men are the highest in the morning after reenergizing their bodies with sleep. What’s that mean for you and your partner? Easy, you’ll be at your horniest when you wake up, just looking to slide a hell of a lot more in than just the tip, helping you take care of your morning wood the right way. Sex therapist Arlene Goldman, Ph.D, had this to add, via Cosmo, “When a man has higher testosterone and is well-rested, he has more energy during sex. That energy will help him last longer.”
