All That Glitters
Sarah Kozlowski is the genetic mix of a Polish father and Dutch mother who was born and raised under African skies. Catch her in “Agent” playing the tenacious football club owner, Zoe Zante currently on NETFLIX.
Tell us about a bit about yourself? I’m an actress from South Africa living in Los Angeles and can cook the meanest steak and make my own jerky. I grew up going hunting in Africa as a kid, everything we hunted we prepared and ate. Nothing was wasted. It was the most respectful experience to another living creature and lots of hard work… we tracked the animals for days by foot and it took another two days to prepare the meat.
What was your initial reaction when you were chosen to shoot for FHM? I have wanted to be part of FHM for as long as I can remember so let’s just say I did a bit of a dance in my kitchen.
How do you prepare for a shoot? For me the sexiest thing in the world is skin! I always body scrub my entire body before a shoot so my skin reacts to light differently and looks more alive! Coffee scrubs are my favourite, I also make my own. I’m like a modern-day female MacGyver!
Describe your perfect man… He makes me feel safe and I can trust him with my life. A mix between a bodyguard, a therapist and a mentor. Someone who loves things about me that others probably find annoying. I can’t say I found this man, he found me. He made me realise that “my type” for years had been lacking in anything that was real! We are now engaged. My advice to anyone is take the idea of “your type” and throw it out the window.
What is your ideal date? Watching McGregor fight Mayweather live in Vegas was the best date of my life!
What do you do for fun? Watch TV, go to comedy clubs and act. I also get to act for work which is a win. The trick is to never forget you started it for fun and now that its work you can never lose the fun in it or it will show in the work. I believe the best actors are the ones who have fun in their performances.
Tell us a bit about your most embarrassing moment. My friends from highs school can attest that I was the queen of embarrassing stories. Maybe that’s why I have such a thick skin and can handle this industry because eventually I just stopped caring and nothing could embarrass me. I once forgot where I parked, had the entire mall’s security, the cops and passers-by helping me find the missing car until I realised I had Ubered!
What would you say is the most difficult part about being an actor? Sometimes you have days when you have absolutely nothing to give energy-wise and you have to dig deep. Once you get going it usually works out but energy is everything on camera and if you are having a bad day there is nowhere to hide. You gotta pep talk yourself and quick. It’s all mental stamina and that takes practice.
What are you most looking forward to doing this year? Getting married! Something small, something fun and something unique. That’s all I want for my wedding.
Lastly, what is your life motto or a quote that means a lot to you? Without God, I am half the human I am meant to be. Fill up your soul anyway that works for you but focusing solely on your physical body will never be enough. I was never fit enough, successful enough, rich enough or happy enough until I realised what actually doesn’t have enough is my soul.
